I didn’t know this back then but Maeve is a little gremlin. I fell for her trap back when I thought she was a nice kitten that needed a home.

Nowadays I’ve realized my cat doesn’t care for quality or price, but as a new kitten parent I wanted the best litter/food/whatever for the cat. So I created this Notion list:

It tracked product cost breakdown and comparisons, what my cat used in the past, and what product I wanted to use next. This table was for the side of me that wanted to do more than just choose from a random “10 best X” article from Google.
It looks daunting but is actually quite easy. The main manual inputs boiled down to:
- product name
- Regular price and/or subscription price
- # of units
The table will then do the math automatically on:
- Regular price per unit column (auto calculated)
- Subscription price per unit column (auto calculated)
- Average of the regular price per unit (auto calculated)
- Average of the subscription price per unit (auto calculated)
From these above computations, I could compare products to each other in terms of cost and to the average cost of the product genre e.g. litter.
Other columns that I tracked for giggles included:
- URL (the product hyperlink)
- Use (what the cat is on currently, was on, and might be on in the future)
- Notes (if I hated it or if the cat did)
- Age group intended for cat (when transitioning from kitten to adult)
- Type of product (if having all products in one big list)
- Brand of product (eh.)
If this table looks useful for you and your cat(s), feel free to take a look at the notion page and take a copy! Just go to the top right menu and click duplicate.
I’ve had it to myself for a long while but I figured why not share it with others. Let me know how it goes in the comments!
If it doesn’t look useful, just understand that I know exactly in numbers how ungrateful my cat is. JK I like her.
P.S. I used prices from Chewy as I saw their prices were better than others for the products I was looking at.
P.P.S. omg my notion’s auto generated URL
